Silver Birch Road Respite Care Home
Silver Birch Road is a light, sunny house in Erdington which provides a very special kind of care for people with multiple disabilities.
Here, men and women, with both a learning and physical disability can enjoy a period of respite care in an ordinary home
setting with trained staff, while their parents or regular carers take a well-earned break.
Birmingham Multi-Care, which runs Silver Birch Road, bases its philosophy of care on treating each person as an individual and providing
for his or her needs in the same way the family does. BMC makes every effort to comply with peoples' individual needs and requirements.
In particular we try to be sensitive to cultural and religious differences and to the preferences of people from all ethnic groups.
Silver Birch Road is adapted to the needs of people with physical disabilities, having a lift, specially designed bathrooms and full access for wheelchair
users. Staff are on duty 24 hours a day.
Who Is Eligible?
The home is open to people living in Birmingham aged 18 years or over with
severe learning disabilities and at least one other disability.
Referrals
Any professional or organisation can refer an individual, or the family can contact the home directly.
Upon referral, a member of staff will visit the individual and their carers at home. Information will be gathered and if all criteria
are satisfied and the family wish to go ahead, they will be invited to visit Silver Birch Road. New residents are usually introduced at
a pace to suit themselves.
Cost
Most families will be able to obtain funding from the Local
Authority after having a needs and financial assessment by their Local Authority Care Manager.
